What's happening to me???

I have been so busy lately that I have not been scalping that much except beginning of July. It's amazing how my trading journey has changed from a long term investor when I started in 2003 to a short term scalper, with a mission to pick up pips EVERYDAY where possible.

Trading is really an ongoing learning curve and strategies evolve from the changing market dynamics as well as individual's tolerance for risk and trading styles. I scalp more as I find the returns are much better and since most of my trades are closed within a day, I get a better sleep at night. :)

I have been testing this scalping strategy since beginning of this year and success rate for trades as been about 98%. I am trying to perfect this strategy so that anyone can successful use and profit from it. I call it "stealing" from market. :)

Here is the scalping results for Feb 2009. It's not even the whole of Feb 2009. I opened a separate account during the last week of Feb 2009 just to measure the performance of my scalping strategy that I have fine-tuned and learned from other strategy tools.

Note that there were several trades that didn't stick to the usual 10 pips per transaction as I found it to be a good opportunity to gain more pips. I normally watch for a short time and check once in a while on the progress. My approach is highly risky as there is no stop loss placed, hence, these trades are placed only with the highest confidence that I am able to exit successfully. So far, it has been really precise for the past months.

I will not be trading today as my internet connection does not seem to be very stable (since yesterday). :(

Trading is a learning curve

Forex Robots

Does Forex Robots work? Although a finance profession by qualification, I spent some time doing IT consulting, using IT as a solution for our otherwise manual work. So, I do believe to a certain extent, technology is able to help us identify trade opportunities.

But does it mean that with automated forex trading system, we can all sit back and relax? I doubt so! Most Forex automated trading systems are properly tested (so we think) in a period of time and then, put out in the market to "sell". It does work but just like your manual strategies, as time goes by when the market behavior starts to change or that the sentiment is different, it is also time to tweak your strategy. And the same goes for using an automated trading software, there are times when the software is not suitable for the market condition and you will just have to stop using it for awhile till the automated strategy is suitable again.

I personally adopt about three automated forex trading software and so far, they have been profitable, except one of them, which I had to stop using in late 2007 because of the market condition that didn't seem to be that suitable anymore. So, even though it's automated, it is also important to have a basic understanding how that automation works and assess whether it's suitable for the market condition.

There are different market cycles and sometimes, it's best to just put the forex robots on HOLD first until it's suitable to be used again.

Recently, I started testing another forex trading tool, it has been about one month and I will post the results once I conclude with the result performance.

Scalping

Scalping the market has always been a very "stressful exercise" for me. Watching for opportunities on a 5 minute chart is not only intense but really fast moving. However, I have been scalping the market since mid of 2008 with such uncertainty in the market and it has proven to be very effective to place my trade on a short term basis.

Timing of entry on such short term trade must be precise and exact to gain the best returns. The currency to trade must be of low spread, so EURUSD is really my choice of trade, although GBPUSD is usually much more volatile, with larger movements (good with profits but also comes with greater risk).

I will share with you with trade results of this technique that I'm using. A little difficult to show the actual results as I'm trading this strategy with my other strategies, so it's really difficult to segment out the results of scalping on my account.

I took a EURUSD 10 pips scalp position earlier and here's a print screen of my trade :

This is one of the best strategy course I've invested as it's simple to use and takes very little of my time to identify entry and exit point. It offers 3 different approaches to currency trading and it's so easy to apply it.

Great for beginners and since it adopts similar approach as my own trade strategy, I find this method to be really effective as there is no complex multiple indicators to watch and "GET CONFUSED OVER"!!! :)

Three strategies will be introduced in the most simplistic and effective way (through video and guidebook). You will learn Swing trading, Breakout trading and trading with key economic news.

An "unwilling" bean counter by profession, I gave up my ten over years of corporate life in 2006 to pursue the dream of trading forex for a living.

This blog is my personal journey trading forex on a full time basis. The Psychology of Electronic Trading

When I first decided to leave my corporate life of 10 over years and to trade on a full time basis from home, I just had to make sure I get the most sound advice from professionals who are trading for a living. Fortunately for myself, a very dear friend of mine and her husband are professional traders for a long time. They shared tips with me and I was given this great book "The Psychology of Electronic Trading - The Power to Trade" by Brendon C W Seeto. This book did touch a little about the market, fundamentals and technicals of trading but the key essence is about our mindset and approach to the market. How interesting it is to see that while there are alot of technical skills to successfully trade in any kind of market....the enemy is really "OURSELVES".

Each of us are of different personality, some could be compelling gamblers going for short term thrills, others could be in the long haul for investing purposes and YES, the common ground each of us have is to achieve financial gains from the market. BUT, the key to successful trading lies in two major areas : 1) our trading method/knowledge, etc AND 2) understanding and controlling of our own personal self.

There is no thrill involved here and basically, I have no emotional attachment towards the market. I find that we need to really understand ourselves and not let our emotion take control of our strategy in trading.
